The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Developer is responsible for the data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) processes and the overall quality of the EDW. Person will be responsible for the communication of issues and changes to the user community. They will also assist Sales and Marketing Account Management with new client implementation and training. The EDW Developer should have full life cycle Data Warehousing skills (Kimball or Inmon). The position also performs production cycle support, routine maintenance and new EDW development project assignments.
Duties
- Design and develop new ETL batch processes for loading/updating new data into EDW;
· Develop EDW load programs;
· Develop and monitor daily data quality checks and research bad data, system failures;
· Develop verification programs to remain in balance with source systems;
· Develop and execute the EDW communication plan;
· Create trending data to data to uncover data anomalies;
· Monitor cycle. Check logs, process rejects, re-run programs, etc;
· Develop and maintain an EDW Operations Manual with recovery procedures and an escalation roster;
· Perform schedule maintenance to add additional jobs and dependencies;
· Maintain load programs to add additional data elements (in conjunction with Enterprise Data Modelers), revise transformations and achieve run-time improvements.
· Work with business units for new client setup, hierarchy assignments, data access/security, documentation and training.
· Develop and maintain extract programs to satisfy clients and regulatory agency requests for data.
· Write one-time data cleansing/fix programs as needed.
Technical Skills
* 7+ years of Information Technology experience;
* 5+ years of Data Warehouse development, primarily doing ETL programming;
* Excellent PL/SQL, Unix scripting (korn, bourne, perl), writing stored procedures, and batch processes;
* Excellent communication skills (written & verbal);
* Ability to work in a matrixed environment & deal with shifting priorities;
* Ability and desire to learn the prescription drug plan industry;
* Ability to read ERDs;
* Knowledge of SQL tools (Toad, Rapid SQL, etc,);
* Knowledge of UNIX (vi, shell scripting, etc.);
* Familiar with Kimball Star Schema approaches;
Education:
* College degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
